Please join us for our
last Family Event Sundayof the year at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning in the church as we present our Classroom Showcase and Award Ceremony. We invite all of our parish family to come and be inspired by our students – our young Church. Join us in lauding them for giving witness to the Gospels with their actions while we also learn what lessons inspired them in their faith formation classes this year. As always, this program takes place between the 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Masses. This Sunday, if you attend the 9 a.m. Mass, you will be treated to the youngest of the children’s choirs – our Kindergarteners and 1
st graders. If you prefer staying for Mass after attending the Family Event Sunday, be prepared to sing with our Family Faith Formation Choir at the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Our children (and parents!) have been practicing for weeks in order to joyfully lead our faith community in song. Remember as you join them, that St. Augustine taught that “singing is praying twice”!!!
Remember: Attending Mass on Sundays (even during the summer) and on Holy Days of Obligation (such as Aug. 15th) is necessary for living out one’s Catholic faith and obtaining the promise of eternal life (CCC 1389). This teaching comes down to us as a fulfillment of the Third Commandment (Keep Holy the Sabbath) when Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper by saying “Do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19). The celebration of the Eucharist – the real presence of Jesus under the appearance of bread and wine – is one of the seven sacraments and is considered the “source and summit of the Christian life” (CCC 1324). Help us build up the Body of Christ this summer by being an example of a faithful Catholic to others, and especially to the children of our parish, by faithfully attending Mass on Sundays.
